SafeZone Student Union Conference 2022

The SafeZone Student Union Conference is a free to attend day conference on Thursday 1st September 2022, hosted at University of Salford in Manchester, at the fantastic MediaCityUK in Salford Quays.

It’s a unique opportunity to come to together to spend time with sabbatical officers from Universities across the UK to collaborate on ideas and discuss issues relating to student wellbeing, welfare, health and safety.

Why Attend?

SafeZone is an app used by hundreds of thousands of students across the UK and the rest of the world. More than 40 universities across the UK have adopted SafeZone. CriticalArc, the company which produces SafeZone, really wants to bring sabb's together to: 

  • Attend a free of charge event (we’ll even provide lunch and refreshments)
  • Collaborate on student wellbeing and safety initiatives
  • Learn more about how SafeZone can be used to support existing and new manifesto pledges around student safety/wellbeing
  • Share ideas and participate in debate and discussion about some of the most pertinent topics relating to the student experience

11.00am - Safety of Women at Universities: Kelly Balmer (The Last Taboo and former Community & Wellbeing Officer, University of York SU)

11.45am - SafeZone - Helping to Promote Safety and Wellbeing at your Uni

12.15pm - Lunch Break and Breakout Discussions

1.15pm - Talk about the Reynhard Sinaga (serial sex offender) case -  Trevor Jones, Hannah Burchell and Ed Moloney (University of Salford)

2.15pm -  Panel Discussion: Raising Awareness of Sexual Violence Against Male and Non-Binary Students – Co-led by Daniel Lay and Grace Armstrong

2.45pm - Afternoon Tea / Coffee and Sweet Treats!

3.00pm - Workshop: Report It? How to deal with Unacceptable Behaviour at your University

3.45pm - Review of the day, looking to the future and creating safer communities

4.30pm - Conference Close
